Live Life and Learn Love

Live Life and Learn Love….

As I started my journey to the year 2007, I realized that there have been a lot of things that I missed out for the past few years. I am thankful for all those years and I didn’t regret any single thing in my life and would not change anything at all. My past had made me stronger and a better person. My past is a big part of who I am now. A woman with deeper substance.

Life is too precious and time is too short. So don’t make it miserable because things didn’t work out in your life. There are only two things you can do to make Life worth it. One is to make the best out of it and two is to live and learn from it. From my life learning experience, I truly believe that at the age of 24 that I have become a better person now because of people that have left very good footprints in my life. I had experience the good and the worst situation ever and yet I feel blessed and thankful for everything.
If I were ask to describe each person I’ve met in my life, I can honestly say that NO one had ever made a negative impact on me, they left me with a positive impact on life. I always find a good reason what I’ve learn with them.

There are these quotation quotes I learn to live by.

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.

And from these quotes: I came up with own personal quotes.

“Learn to live on what you have, whether it be a dollar in your pocket, or alone by yourself. Make the best out of it, and only then you can say you lived your life. Self-contentment and self-realization is what you need in order to appreciate what life has to offer”. Kim Villafuerte
There are a lot of people who became a part of your life. There’s mom and dad, brother s or sisters, aunt and uncle, your bestfriend, or that special someone. But, do you ever stop and realize what is it that you learn from them? I learn a lot from people and I haven’t had the chance to thank each one of them individually. But I do hope that they know that I am very thankful for being a part of my life.

There are a few people who left me a good footprints
One who gave it all, the very best he can give and I realize that, the very best that he can give is the ALL that I could ever ask for.

One who gave me the freedom and trust only now that I realize that, the freedom and trust I’ve ever receive was that I was able to be me without worrying about anything at all.

One who taught me that forgiveness exists regardless of what it entails. Only then I realize that caring for one part doesn’t mean you stop if something terrible happens, it means you continue caring for that person at any time.

One who gave light into my life. Who made me realize that faith along the way is what you need to be contented in everything you do in life. But most of all, the one that gave me light had taught me and molded me of who I am as a person. I learn to sacrifice, and experience to give the unconditional love.
Now, I know what unconditional love is. I was able to give that without limitations. I was free from limiting myself and not expecting anything in return at all. I was able to love and sacrifice everything I have in order to full the unconditional love. I was not selfish and regardless what the outcome of that relationship. Whether it means that person might not love you back the same amount, or not atleast care a bit. I had no reservation.

In which category were you in my life?….Regardless of what is it that I’ve learn.. The only thing I have to say is to THANK You.

When Art meets Beauty and Beauty meets Art..

August 29th, 2006 by kimoro

                ARTISTA MAGAZINE: FashionArtista Column

By: Kim Villafuerte 21918045127517l_1

Few things are more seductive than fashion - it is the beauty, glamour, sensual, poise, elegance and the confident of a model that portrays the art of beauty. The lovable Amabelle Singson grew up as a tomboy who never once picked up a doll. But, her exotic beauty, great personality and determination, captures the world of modeling. And when Beauty meets Art, it’s an impeccable combination of presence and energy.

What are the positive and negative aspects of modeling?
AS: “The positive aspects are getting exposed to certain types of people in the industry and understanding the aspects of modeling. It teaches you about responsibility, personal hygiene, and marketing a product (YOU being the product). In the world of modeling, like any type of business, there’s a negative aspect of the industry. You will get rejected many times, so you have to accept rejection completely as a whole and make it as a motivation to keep going forward”.

Is modeling something you do for self-assurance of ones beauty or is it because you are attracted in presenting beauty in form of appreciating art? AS: “Modeling is a form of art. It is like looking at a painting and appreciating the colours that are blended together. I use my beauty as a form of art, the way makeup is applied, the way I show the clothes, executing the creative direction of the photo shoots into the visual eye, and so on. Modeling shows the overall effect of how beauty and art are combined”.

As a model, what difference do you hope to make in yourself and in the community at large.
AS: “I would love to educate aspiring models and actors on how to get into the business the correct way. Teach them how to avoid getting scammed by so-called agencies and learning about the business, so they have a general knowledge about who and what to deal with. Maybe open up an annual workshop!”.

How can one get in the modeling industry?
AS:
“Get yourself an agent. Make sure your agent is someone you can get along with, trust and can communicate with effectively. Your agent is not only your employer, but also your friend. They are the ones that develop you as a whole and build your career in the industry”.

Mel_solo1_7 From the bare essentials of beauty – it is the creativity, artistic, the avant-garde, and the vision of the artist that brings beauty and imagination to life. The talented Melanie Buslon, who was once dressed in plain black, experimented different shades, tones, and array of colors and found herself a gifted talent. Hired for her gifts, she can translate Art into a distinctive beauty.

What do you find most challenging in your job?
MB: “Making sure that the Client and I see eye-to-eye. With creativity and skill paired with their vision, is what will help me achieve my goal at the end appointment or shoot. The beginning is always the hardest part just because you’re trying to figure out where and how to start.”

How do you maintain artistic creativity while maintaining the individuality of the model?
MB: “There are endless possibilities with makeup – from natural to avant-garde looks. I study the model’s features; figure out what complements the entire image. Looking at the model’s bone structures; features and what would be the focal point gives me an idea of how the application will be. From there, I choose whatever colours I feel best fits – it’s all one-makeup freestyle”.

Describe the Art of Beauty and how much art is involved in makeup application?
MB: “Beauty is a work of art. With makeup, no matter if it is simple, minimalist look or dramatic, with the right eye for colour and blending skills, you will always end up with the same product – and that is the art of beauty! Makeup application is all about Art just with a different medium and canvas. It is your vision brought to life…”.

What is the most important makeup tip we all should consider?
MB:
“Besides the makeup kit essentials (concealer, liner, lip balm, etc), I encourage everyone to play around a little bit with looks. Try to discover a new you. Don’t work against your features, work with it — Enhance, enhance, enhance! Bring out your best feature. This is what you want people to see and be drawn too”.

KV: Thank you ladies, both of you are well blessed and gifted. I am very impressed as to how dedicated, disciplined and highly motivated individuals you are. My last two questions are: What advice would both of you give to aspiring models and makeup artists who is just starting out?

AS: Love yourself, be yourself. Keep your morals in mind because when you lose that, you lose yourself. Beauty shines when you love yourself. Maintain a healthy balance and stay true to yourself.
MB: Don’t be too hard on yourself. Learn how to take constructive criticism, the positive and negative. Do a lot of research about trends, makeup, styling etc., once you gain that knowledge all you need is drive. Don’t forget to always be in good spirits!

KV: Last, but not the least in the world of FASHION, Complete the sentence FASHION IS…

AS: Creativity, being yourself and showing who you really are.
MB: It is a lifestyle. It is meant to be experimented with. No matter what genre, I always find dressing up a fun experience!”

It was indeed an honor to speak with two beautiful, talented and intelligent young women who talked about their lives, works, insights and challenges. Even though these two young women come from different backgrounds, they appeared to share a common belief in professionalism. In fact, both artists opened up to the effect that while any genre of work can be difficult, they believed that failure is not in their cards and that as long as they are true to their talents and pursue their craft, the future can only be brighter. They deserve the community’s support and encouragement. Most of all, they make us proud. Good luck to both of you in your desired career.

And the Winner Is…

June 6th, 2006 by kimoro

And the winner is…. Yes the excitement, anticipation of the person who would be crown as the winner for Grand Philippine PIDC 2006 Pageant. Why are Filipinos so obsessed with pageant, singing and dancing contest? Is it the mix of fashion, beauty, glamour, entertainment, social mingling or is it popularity that have made beauty pageants a national contests and a national obsession? Is it because where looking for a beautiful heroic person to represent us. Is it because we look for a social gathering and an opportunity to socialize? Is it because a Filipino community organizes the pageant and we got to support the community or do we go to pageant because we want to see beautiful people? Or is it because we use the national obsession for beauty contests as an instrument for national development, such as promotion for tourism, mass education of the people by injecting new positive cultural values into beauty contests? All of these maybe true for some people but I believe the main reason we love pageant so much is because in a pageant we look for and sometimes we find the beautiful and the heroic. Pageants of course start of with many contestants competing for the same price. First of all in order to be a part of the pageant, you must truly believe that you are beautiful. This means contestants in a pageant are a person who has at least some self-confidence in their appearance. You don’t join the pageant unless you believe yourself. This is a good thing. It is a good to raise young people who have positive self-image of themselves. When the contestants gather and the winner is finally chosen you can be sure that the result is part luck, part beauty, and part democracy. Luck because sometimes the scores depend on the judges. Different judges score differently. Beauty because usually the finalist are chosen on the basis of beauty. Democracy because sometimes the opinions and wishes of those present or the crowd influenced the perceptions of who the winner should be. But in all this, everybody has an image of what the winner should be. Everybody has an idea of the qualities that should be present in the winner. These are qualities that each person carries with her. These are qualities that we have acquired from our childhood through our lives. These qualities are nothing less than the beautiful and heroic. When we think of the winner we expect them to be beautiful, who carry themselves with poise and elegance. But this shouldn’t be our expectation. Beauty is not only in the eye of the beholder, because mere physical beauty is not real beauty. I believe that real beauty lies in a long lasting, impervious to the ravages of time and age. It can only be found deep within each person’s heart, inner character, in our capacity to give and receive love, in our appreciation of life, in our values and personality, in our wit and humor, in the quality of our dreams and imperishable hopes. Beauty should be a reflection of a woman’s substance in being intelligent, creativity and in standing for what they strongly believe in. Even though different people many have different perception we can all agree that to each one of us the most beautiful person is the one bring who brings us all these qualities that I mentioned. Given that different judges score different for different contestant, and given than different people vote differently of who the winner should be, it follows that every contestants is beautiful. So that means every contestant represent each one of us in some way.

I had a one-on-one personal interview with all the winners for each category. I asked each one of them with a different question.

Q: What was your first reaction and how does it feel like when you won the title of Miss Philippines?

“At first I was very shocked when they announced that I won the title, but I was really happy at the same time. When I first won Miss Photogenic, I was already happy with that, and I was so caught up with winning that title, that I stopped thinking about winning the title of Miss Philippines. When they announced that I won the title, I felt very happy, excited and so shocked. my friends and family in the audience were cheering for me as well, and that also made me feel proud to win the title.” at first I was very shocked when they announced that I won the title, but I was really happy at the same time. Q: How are you going to promote and encourage young people? What are you going to say and how about are you going to do that?

“I will set my life experience as an example to inspire young people to live out their dreams. Three words, I have for my fellow youth: Aspire, Activate and Achieve. That no dream is ever too big to fulfill for as long as you are willing to commit a hundred percent of yourself to it, working hard to attain the success one longs for”.
Miss Teen Philippines PIDC 2006 – Monica De Leon

Q: What other advice can you give our young Filipinos who also want to enter the male pageant and become an Ambassador in our Filipino Community?

"To other guys thinking of joining I would say ‘go for it’. I mean I know the idea of entering a male pageant sounds kinda weird at first, but once you wrap your head around it there’s really no down side. That weird, unsure feeling, at the end of the day, really is the only thing stopping you. I mean trying something new always feels that way. Taking any kind of risk always feels that way. But that feeling shouldn’t stop you from doing it. If people always hesitated before doing something then nothing would ever get done. So ya, I would say do it. I got the opportunity to perform on a huge stage, got the opportunity to work with some really cool people, and got to hang around some really beautiful girls. So where is the down side?”
Mr. Philippines PIDC 2006 – Scott Brown

Q: There is so much time ahead of you; will you be planning to join any other pageants in the future and why?

I hope so! I hope to experience new things, continue my dreams and achieve my goals.
Miss Juniour Philippines PIDC 2006 – Ylenne Enriquez

As I looked at each beautiful smiling face– who among these aspiring young women will go on to become international beauty titlists, top fashion models, future actresses, future ad endorsers, entertainers, politicians, activists, business entrepreneur, or an inspiring leaders. Everyone is beautiful in his or her own way. Even the most beautiful person in the world would benefit from tips of fashion and of beauty. Essentially, whatever your budget, there is something that can enhance your beauty on the market today. But with so many products available, how do you go about it? The first tip is to find out what you really like, the second of course is, how much you prepared to spend to achieve the look and third, but not the least, is how, whatever you buy makes you feel and look good. Looking and feeling beautiful begins from the inside in accepting who you are with confidence. But on the outside, what really works is the combination of colours, styles, and patterns. It requires you to use your wits and your vision about what you want to look like by enhancing your current image to revamping yourself into totally new person. In general, women are concerned with the way they look. This is especially so when it comes to fashion.

At Kimoro, women keep asking us for suggestions on how to recreate themselves or how to break some rules to look and feel good.   Here, I intend to introduce you to a few basic color, style and pattern analysis; new ways of bargain shopping (ukay-ukay) and effective makeup tips and looking like a million dollar. The first thing is to know your body very well. Train your eye to look for which part of your body that you like the best. Determining which part of your body you want to accentuate will help you analyze the clothes that will flatter your figure. A few general questions to ask yourself when it comes to analyzing the clothes: 1. Will the cut flatter my shape and size? 2) Will the fabric drapes smoothly? 3) Will the color flatter my skin tone? 4) Are there any other details that set it apart from the ordinary?

As we end the year of 2005 and enter another year, a lot of us we are pretty much in debt from Christmas shopping. Unfortunately, it’s not only the oil prices that are rising, everything else follows. But this shouldn’t stop anyone from trying to look fabulous though. Looking good makes you feel good about yourself. This is the beginning of the year to re-invent yourself by making you look good. But having said that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be a fashion slave/victim to what is out in the market. Being stylish means bringing out the best in you without maximizing your credit cards.

A woman in style also knows how to reassess her features and accentuate it. That means analyzing your face, skin and hair and enhancing it by following tips, advice and guidance from the beauty experts. From glide-on to airbrush foundations and through anti-ageing night creams, the range is enormous and ever growing. Beauty Experts cut through the mass of sometimes confusing information to show which products form the basis of a good skin or hair-care routine, which makeup formulations suit you best, and how they should be used. Ever wondered how makeup professionals achieve such perfect results; and have their models appeared flawless. That is, the result of makeup. The help of tools and expertise can help anyone to create the image of choice, saving you from time-consuming and costly mistakes and guaranteeing you a perfect finish.

Looking fabulous doesn’t mean buying expensive clothes. Remember that you can look expensive without having to spend a lot.

Everyone has that friend who always wears the nicest clothes, has the trendy, nicely decorated apartment, but doesn’t seem to spend much money on her purchases.   How does she do it? Does she know all the owners? Does she walk away with the goods? What’s her secret? She has no secret; she just happens to be very talented at an art that not many know how to do: bargaining and looking to get the best deal. You may be too ashamed to bargain, but for some, this is truly an innate talent. There really is no trick; you just have to know where to go, what to do and most of all to be extremely patient.

The cost of being a TRENDSETTER or updated on the latest fashion style, at the least, is very expensive nowadays. Purchasing a complete set of clothing in department stores would probably cost you $300 or more (that is if you shop at a medium end boutique even more for a high end boutique like CHANEL & PRADA). Seldom could you find trendy tops, in-the-minute jeans, chic foot wears and cool bags that cost below a hundred bucks. Here is why I am introducing you to the art of ukay ukay (bargain shopping)? Inside jam-packed ukay-ukay stores lie what shoppers call “treasure pieces” — the products, which are sold at incredible low prices.

Generally this term, are piles of imported garments being sold for very cheap prices (markdown price/ sales and etc). To some people, the thought of buying cheap clothes, or second-hand clothes isn’t really appealing. That is a personal choice of course. It’s simply cheap and can be chic. A lot of these are even branded, the ones sold in famous boutiques and stores. The only difference is that, these require scavenging, and matching items together creating that fashionable look. A good number are unused old stocks that are still fashionable. Signature brands at that.  This is the perfect example of WINNERS.  Seek and ye shall find. Toronto may not be the bazaars and tiangges like in Manila, yet there are still a number of ukay-ukays stalls in the city as you will realize when you wander through the streets of Toronto ahhh QUEEN STREET (fashion district). At first glance, the items are not really to-die-for, yet wait till you have explored its very interior, and you’ll see products at super low, low prices that are certainly hard to ignore. Bring your patience with you and prepare to do some arm exercises — ukay.  The art of bargaining, the prize of patience

Patience is indeed a virtue if you are to embark on an ukay-ukay spree. Shoppers must just be extra patient in scouring through the mountains of clothes. Though it can be tiring, the rewards are priceless. Imagine finding genuine SEVEN jeans in good condition underneath the rummage that costs only $20! Talk about bargain! Within that rummage is a million dollar look.  Shocked? Don’t be. Save it when you to see the greatest finds in ukay-ukay for yourself.

But here’s why ukay-ukay is more fun and exciting.

First of all, ukay-ukay allows you to express yourself in any way you can. Each apparel is inimitable so a sense of individuality is more stated, unlike in shopping centers where clothing are mass-produced. Thus, you will have less chances of seeing people with the same clothing as yours.

Second is that, you don’t need a huge sum of money to be able to buy an outfit from ukay-ukay. An amount of $100 is already enough to buy a tank top and a pair of jeans for your typical night-out.

Last but not the least, ukay-ukay challenges your patience. Searching for the right kind of outfit in ukay-ukay can be exhausting. But, the effort is worthwhile.

Just a reminder before strutting your new ukay-ukay outfit: Of course, don’t forget to have your ukay-ukay finds washed up well. After washing and soaking those ukay items overnight, to ensure they are a hundred percent clean, and after achieving your desired image, who would think that you’re wearing cheap outfits? No one will dare do so for ukay items are just as presentable like those of the outfits sold in department stores that will cost you five times more. Once they’re washed, they are ready to be flaunted to the world.

Good luck on your bargaining pursuit. Just try to be casual, try your best, and don’t get too emotional in your bargaining. Stay cool; it’s just a purchase. Bargaining is supposed to be fun. So enjoy it and remember, sellers beware!

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who’s the prettiest of them all.

PLANET PHILIPPINES - Issue No. 3  March 2006

By: Kim Villafuerte

While the answer to this question may be tough for a mirror to decide, today’s society seems to have the answer, as there are certain expectations everyone must live up to.  I hope that the mirror always speaks the truth! I know it speaks the honest truth when it’s squeaky clean.  My mother used to tell me to make my mirror spotless.  That way, she said I can see all the beauty and beast that lie beneath my face (or what I call the “Flaws” on one’s face).

Take a good look at yourself in the mirror.  We see our own reflection, and it is the beauty of one’s existence.  But we rarely pause for thought and study our faces and expressions in depth.  The appreciation and acceptance of one’s beauty is to see beneath it all – the shape, structure and features – this will make it easier to emphasize our strong points – it could be that great big eyes you got and it can be played sexy by putting that blended dark colors, perhaps it could be our small nose – which can be accentuated by contouring or that perfect high cheek bone by striking it with a little blush to highlight its bone structure – or pairing up your luscious lips with glossy lip-gloss.  These are just a few pointers to help you assess your features.

But, perfection shouldn’t be the real goal.  Individuality is one of the keys to real beauty.  Being aware of your face features will help you learn how to do simple makeup tricks to draw away (literally away) attention from the features you hate while making the most of the ones you love.  Confidence is the second key to real beauty.  Being confident in carrying yourself puts that beauty in the spot.  These are the two main ingredients you should keep and it doesn’t even cost a penny… It’s free. That’s right whoever said nothing is for free, well they’re wrong… this one is for free. EMBRACE IT and KEEP IT.

Modern lives rarely even allow for time-consuming hair and makeup routine.  And that is what I am lacking, Time!   So I manage not to spend hours in front of a mirror.  Thank God for those impatient men in our lives, they keep us on our toes.  Make-up will look more glowing and beautiful if you follow these simple steps.  Those beauty magazines bombard us with new products and ideas to try and yet you still come out looking the same.  But, here are my tips. These are 100% cosmetic-makeup-free tips:

1. Properly cleansed and treated face. (Cleanser, toner and moisturizer)

2. Eat proper diet, exercise and ohh have plenty of sleep. (Avoid anything oily foods and drink a lot of water. Get at least 8 hours of sleep).

3. Keep your face away from any hair destruction (take out any facial hair in your lips, underneath the chin and etc.).  Eyebrows play a very important role in your face; they frame your face very well.  Make sure you keep your eyebrows well groomed. (Get it done by a professional esthetician).

Don’t try to tweeze it until it’s gone.  It’s shameful to see over arched eyebrows.  Your facial expression will appear surprised all the time even when you’re sleeping or really emotionally sad.

Beauty is in the simple things you do to be clean and groomed.
